Public Procurement Event well attended in West Cork

November 30 2011

The West Cork Enterprise Board and Cork County Council ran a Public Procurement Networking Event last Night in Clonakilty which was attended by almost 70 people.

Mr. MacDara O’Hici, Head of Procurement at Cork County Council spoke about supplying services and goods into Cork County Council, their tendering and purchasing requirements, other legal requirements and how to go about submitting a tender to Cork County Council.

All public, semi-state and local authority procurements are now done through the e-tendering process, including Cork County Council and the Seminar will explain this in more detail.

In addition, Michael Hanley, CEO, West Cork Enterprise Board said ‘Cork County Council is one of the largest buyers of goods and services in the region. That means that there are numerous opportunities for local companies to be involved in supplying the Council. We were anxious that companies be made aware of what the Council are seeking and how the process of tendering for this business works. In the current economic climate, this is an opportunity that should not be missed, and due to the high degree of interets in making tender applications, the Board will be running ‘How to Successfully Tender’ courses in West Cork early in 2012.
